Love One Another Wall

Note: This post was originally published in February of 2013.
It was posted a little late for trying it yourselves though,
so I wanted to re-post it now so you can try it this February yourself!

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I came up with a project for our family to do that would help us to focus on showing love to others.

I made a "Love One Another" wall and then introduced it to them during a Family Night.

I introduced the idea by:

Sharing A Scripture

John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another;
as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."

Singing A Song

Love One Another

Making A Goal

Our simple goal was just to fill the wall as full as we could with hearts by Valentine's Day!
(Every time someone showed love to someone else, they got to put a heart on the wall).

You can start at the beginning of February or any other time and set any deadline you want!

(But this is a great time of year to go out & get little foam hearts like I used for our wall!)

Here's How I Made Our Love Wall:

I started by cutting out the words "Love One Another" on my Cricut. I just used an 8.5x11" piece of cardstock paper and told the cricut to fit the words onto the page. It was a good size for the skinny wall I wanted to use for our love wall.

Next I used some sticky tac to stick the letters to the wall.

And then I got some painter's tape (less likely to rip paint off of my wall!)
and rolled it on the back of a bunch of foam hearts.

I knew that I was too lazy to put a fresh roll of tape onto a heart each time somebody showed love, so I rolled the tape & stuck the hearts around the corner of the love wall. That way all we had to do was grab a heart from around the corner & stick it on the love wall.

Here's how the wall started, and how it began to take shape:

By Valentine's Day we had a pretty full wall, but we didn't stop because we hit Valentine's Day- we kept going! It was great to see how the wall not only motivated the girls to show love, but kept us aware of how we show love to each other.

If you try this project (or any other project from our blog, I'd love for you to share your version (with a photo)
with me by email, or by tagging @raisingmemories on instagram!)

  2. This is super cute, and looks easy enough that even a craft fail master like myself might be able to pull it off. ;) Thank you for post, pinned/shared!

Visiting today from the sistsharefest - your post was one that caught my eye and had to come over and visit.

  3. Adorably simple idea! I've pinned it so I can set one up for my boys. In a house of 4 boys, I can use a little more pink in our house! This is the time to do it. Stopping by from SITS.
