Spring Weather, Vitamins, & a Giveaway

It has been a long Winter here and even though the calendar tells us it's Spring now, the weather seems to be putting up a fight!  We've had snow this week but we hold on to the hope of warmer days whenever the sun comes out.  We are very ready for those days!

Whenever we do have a sunny day, the girls start asking if they can pull out their bikes or their scooters and I haven't let them yet- there are still piles of snow everywhere we look!  (They are disappearing though, and I am looking forward to the opportunities to get outside with them and enjoy this beautiful world).

Last April, on a Spring walk... maybe that weather will be here in a few weeks again!

Throughout this Winter, we have not seen the sun very much, so I know that I (and my family) have been in need of Vitamin D from other sources. I knew a lot of people weren't getting enough vitamin D (apparently 85% of people!) but I didn't realize that vitamin D deficiency is at its peak right after the winter season (I guess that makes sense, but I think my tendency would be to ease up on the vitamins once the sun came out- I guess it takes a while for that to all get balanced out, so it's a good idea to keep up on them at this time of year especially!) My kids have been loving their "sun" gummy vitamins from IronKids and I'm happy to know they're getting vitamin D that way, if not from the sun!

We've also been trying out their Calcium vitamins for kids.  Katrina probably needs them more than Talia because for some reason, that girl likes to eat her cereal dry! I don't get it, but she often insists that she wants cereal for breakfast, but without milk!  (I haven't figured out her reasoning, because she does like milk at other times or with some cereals).  But she's always up for a gummy vitamin, so I'm happy to know that she's getting the calcium she needs from another source!

Vitamin D and Calcium work together- wihout daily intake of vitamin D, calcium intake can decrease. (IronKids Calcium is also fortified with vitamin D to ensure your kids can actually absorb and use the calcium they're taking in).  Good news for their bones and teeth!

Since we're talking about these two vitamins, today's giveaway is for a bottle of each of them!

  4. I LOVE dry cereal and I HATE cereal with milk. I like to think it's a sign she'll grow up to be extra genius-y :-). It's all about texture - I just don't like soggy food. Milk can be blended with things, like a smoothie, but it shouldn't make things moist. Don't even get me started on dunking cookies into milk. SO, so wrong. LOL
