Kelly Moore B-Hobo Camera Bag in Muted Teal (Review)

I want to share with you my review of the Kelly Moore B-Hobo Camera Bag (in muted teal) that I have used & loved throughout 2011. I purchased it with Christmas money last Christmas and after a year of use, I thought it was time I posted a review of one of my favourite products of my 2011!

I use this bag a lot. I use it as a purse when I want to bring my camera with me. I use it as my gear bag when I'm shooting a session. It has been excellent!

Below I'll go through the features of the bag & my thoughts on them. I hope you find this useful if you're shopping for a camera bag! I'll be posting another camera bag review next week and a comparison of the two, the following week. So stay tuned if you're shopping around! :)

Isn't it lovely? ;) It arrived safe & sound in this bag: (and before I go on, I have to mention the superior customer service that I experienced when I emailed with a couple of questions. Kelly Moore's customer service left me impressed and very pleased, having gone above & beyond the call of duty, if you ask me. I am a very happy customer (and already dreaming of the Posey bag...)

When I researched my online purchase, I was very happy to find Kelly's video of each of her bags. I love to shop blog reviews before I make an online purchase and spent a lot of time looking for more photos of people's b-hobo bags! So, I took a lot of them for you. Here's the back of the bag, with a zipper pocket:

The front of the bag has 2 smaller zipper pockets, beneath the front flap:

The front flap is easy to flip over as it closes with a magnetic closure. The magnets are hidden inside of the bag. I love this feature!

There's a small pocket on each side of the bag for a cell phone or something else small:

The bag comes with two straps. They remove easily. Shown below is the short one (I love this one for wearing the bag as a purse).

The other is long and adjustable (great for wearing across your body while shooting! There is also a removable shoulder pad that slides over the strap.

The main part of the bag closes with a zipper for extra security (if the flap isn't good enough for you) which was a selling point for me.

The B-Hobo comes with 2 removable, padded dividers*. They aren't super "poofy"**, but they do the job. They have velcro on 3 sides as shown:

The interior of the bag is lined with velcro along the bottom and sides (up as far as the dividers go) that matches the purple-ish fabric of the interior of the bag. This makes the divider placement completely up to you- I love that! (I'm always rearranging them depending on what I want to carry with me)

Here's what I carry with me in this bag, at its fullest. Everything fits well and there's plenty of room at the top to zip the bag closed. (I've got a Canon 5D camera body with a Tamron 28-75mm lens attached, a Canon 480ex flash inside of its pouch, an extra canon lens, a bulky camera strap cover, and a large wallet inside of the main part of the bag).

Here are a couple of shots that my hubby took of me with my daughters at the pumpkin patch last October. They are what I could find of the B-Hobo being worn by me (with the smaller strap).

I found it helpful to see photos like this when I was shopping, to get an idea of how big the bag is (I'm 5'8" if that helps you ;)

...and that's the B-Hobo! If you've got any questions for me about the bag or my experience with it, let me know in the comments, and I'd be happy to reply. I've really enjoyed having this bag around this past year & it's still in great shape, after lots of use!

*Note: This bag now comes with a padded, removable interior Ipad divider.

**Note: It looks (from new product photos) like these pads may now be "poofier" ;)

  1. I have to mention that I love, LOVE my bag as well!! I too have the B-Hobo bag in grey and I use it everyday as a purse, a diaper bag and just when I'm toting around my camera.
I only wish I could buy the IPad insert for it. Although I have carted my IPad around in the bag and have not had to worry.
I too totally recommend this bag!!

  6. Thanks for your review and great photos. I am debating between the muted purple and the muted teal as you have. After looking at several other purse/camera bags I am convinced about the BHobo. Now I just need to decide on te color...

  7. This has been my most favorite bag I'm so sad they discontinued it. I used it for a couple years and now it's falling apart but after a lot of use. I can't find anything else that has the same facets I liked with this camera purse. tall on the sides to pad those longer lenses but low in the middle so it's easy to wear on your shoulder and easier to get into, long strap for cross body and easy access flap top, plus tons of exterior pockets that weren't as bulky as some Epiphanie bags I've used. Now I'm looking into rough and tumble convertible hobos and buying a padded insert on amazon!
