Finally Snow, "The Mitt Problem" & a Smart Mitts Giveaway!

I would be happy to have snow for somewhere between 2 weeks and 1 month of the winter and above zero temperatures for the rest of it.  Canada is not on the same page as me.  This year however, our girls' Winter Break from school was not very wintry!  We didn't even have a white Christmas.

Finally on the last Saturday before school started, we got snow!  The girls went out in the morning to build snowmen and it's a good thing they did because that afternoon it rained and the rain froze over the snow.. and that was the end of snowman-weather!  I told them not to worry because it's not unlikely that they'll have snow during "Spring" Break in March! ;)

Along with photos of the girls building snowmen, I wanted to share some photos of Talia's new Smart Mitts.  This has been a rough year for Talia with mittens.  I have lost count of how many pairs have been lost!  We went out and bought her a nice pair of mittens (good ones) and a set of mitten clips to help her to keep track of them (that worked for us last year and is still working for Katrina), but she lost one mitten & one mitten clip within a couple of days!

Ken and I were getting frustrated and weren't sure what to do next when I heard about Smart Mitts and it was like providence!  We've been trying them out for a few weeks and now they've been put to the test in snow, so I'm ready to share them with you!

The first thing I really like about them is that they're LONG, so snow can't sneak in!  In the photo below, you can see that the mitt goes almost all the way to her elbow!  They are meant to be worn inside of the coat though, which completely keeps snow from getting in.

They're also made with thinsulate and soft fleece on the inside so they are nice and warm!  When the girls came in from building their snowmen, I asked Talia how her hands felt and she said, "Great! I didn't even feel any cold!"

The "smartest" part of Smart Mitts is the soft, stretchy band that connects them!  This keeps them attached and prevents them from being lost and I can't tell you how much I love this feature. :)  It's like "mittens on a string" (but works with vinyl mittens).

Here's a closer look at some of the details.  You can see how nicely the band is attached onto the mitten and how well it is sewn.  I've been impressed by the quality so far.

We are certainly relieved to have our "Mitt Problem" solved!  If you're interested in trying Smart Mitts, you can order them here.  You can also enter to win a pair right here, by filling out this form!

  3. Such a great idea. I made mitt clips for my kids but my 2 year old loves undoing the (child proof!) clips and constantly removes his mitts in the car, drops them on the floor, and then cries that his hands are cold but he can't reach his mitts. It's the sad, sad life of a toddler!
