Behind-the-Scenes of a Family Photoshoot

Yesterday evening, we did a little photoshoot at our house. I wanted to get some photos of our family in our new matching Christmas pajamas from Lazy One for my Family Gift Guide. It ended up being such a fun night and I really liked some of the photos we came away with so I wanted to share them here.

I should've taken some photos of what was going on behind-the-scenes too! I may have to do that next time we do something like this because some of these photos almost look like something out of a catalogue, but what's behind the camera might be a little comical at times!

In order to get this photo of us hanging ornaments, we had to move furniture and strategically place a tripod as far back as possible, to get us all in frame. I had to squeeze between the wall and the camera to set the timer and then run for my position and hope for the best!

I love that we have this cute little family photo in front of the tree and as posed as it may be, I really like the tree decorating photo, too! The final shot in the living room was a bit of Christmas reading (clearly, this is a very joyous story we're "reading").

Next stop was our bedroom. The pillow fight photos might be my favourite. They were slightly posed because we had to get everyone in frame and I couldn't back my tripod up any further, but there was real pillow fighting happening in the process!

The behind-the-scenes in this photo? Let's just say the part of our room you're looking at is the ONLY tidy part. The floor was covered in pillows and laundry that needed to be put away (and the canvas that usually hangs above our bed). The tripod was backed up as far as possible and raised as high as possible, requiring a step stool behind it so I could see through the viewfinder!

The photoshoot ended with a bit of (usually forbidden) jumping on the bed and then a couple of Halloween treats around the table while we made a few holiday plans.

This post isn't sponsored, but I am partnering up with Lazy One for my Gift Guide Giveaway. You can find them on their U.S. Website or their Canadian Website and of course, you can enter to win a gift card from them (among many other prizes) over on my Family Gift Guide Giveaway!

  1. You guys are adorable! It was a huge amount of effort just to get all of us in one picture in our Halloween costumes, so kudos to you! It will be easier when my kids are older and more cooperative!
