| Juno Hybrid & Juno Hybrid Cool+ Mattress Review |
I've been writing about mattresses on Raising Memories for years, starting with our review of the original Douglas mattress. Since then, I've continued to test and compare mattresses, including our popular Bed-in-a-Box Comparison, where we compared the Endy, Douglas and Logan & Cove. My most recent mattress review was of the new Douglas Hybrid, and when the Juno Hybrid came along, we had the opportunity to compare two Canadian-made hybrid mattresses from the same company.
What Is the Juno Hybrid Mattress?
The Juno and Douglas mattress lines are made by the same company (GoodMorning.com). The new hybrid versions of each combine layers of foam with springs. The original versions are all-foam mattresses. The Juno line is now available as Juno Foam, Juno Hybrid, or Juno RV. Each version is available with the Cool+ cover as an upgrade.
Juno Hybrid Mattress Specs & Construction
Like the Douglas Hybrid, this mattress uses individually wrapped pocket coils rather than a traditional continuous-coil system. Because the coils can respond independently, pocketed coil construction can help with both motion isolation and contouring.
The layer-by-layer breakdown:
- Knit cover (+ Cool+ upgrade option)
- 2" cooling gel foam
- 1" transition foam
- 3 zones of 6" pocketed coils + reinforced edges
- 1" base foam
- Total height: 10"
Regular Cover vs. Cool+ Cover: What's the Difference?
You can order the Juno mattress with the Cool+ cover upgrade. This cover is infused with cooling fibres that feel cool to the touch and help regulate body temperature for better rest.
Looking at the two mattresses next to each other, you can see a small difference in the way the covers look, but aesthetically, they're pretty similar, and at first glance, you would assume they're exactly the same. You can, however, feel the difference between the two! (Scroll down for the section about who should choose the Cool+ cover).
Our Juno Hybrid Mattress Review
After sleeping on the new Canadian hybrid mattresses, I had a conversation with my girls about their experience with them, and here's their review:
- Comfort & Feel — Juno describes the Hybrid as medium-firm, and both girls found it comfortable for sleeping on their sides or backs.
- Motion Isolation & Noise — Our daughters found the Juno Hybrid to be quieter than their previous traditional spring mattresses that creaked with movement
- Edge Support — The girls said the edges hold well, but are not as sturdy at the edge as their previous traditional spring mattresses felt
- Sleep Quality — Both girls have been waking up well-rested from day one
- Cool+ Cover— The daughter who tested the Cool+ cover reported that it definitely feels cooler than her previous mattress! Read on for more about that.
Who Should Upgrade to the Cool+ Cover?
We tested both the regular Juno Hybrid and the Juno Hybrid Cool+ mattress, so we compared the two covers. If you sleep hot or like to curl up with lots of blankets even in the summer, then the Cool+ cover might be for you! Our daughter said she can now sleep with her weighted blanket and its fluffy cover without getting hot (which she couldn't do before), so she's quite happy with the Cool+ Cover upgrade!
