Juno Hybrid Mattress Review: Is the Cool+ Cover Worth It?

We recently had the opportunity to try the new Juno Hybrid mattress, and because we were also reviewing the Douglas Hybrid at the same time, we had a particularly good opportunity to compare the two Canadian-made hybrid mattresses.

Juno Hybrid and Juno Hybrid Cool+ mattresses
Juno Hybrid & Juno Hybrid Cool+ Mattress Review

We received two twin mattresses from Juno: one with the regular cover for one daughter, and one with the Cool+ upgrade- for our daughter who sleeps hot.

Juno provided these mattresses for review.

I've been writing about mattresses on Raising Memories for years, starting with our review of the original Douglas mattress. Since then, I've continued to test and compare mattresses, including our popular Bed-in-a-Box Comparison, where we compared the Endy, Douglas and Logan & Cove. My most recent mattress review was of the new Douglas Hybrid, and when the Juno Hybrid came along, we had the opportunity to compare two Canadian-made hybrid mattresses from the same company.

What Is the Juno Hybrid Mattress?

The Juno and Douglas mattress lines are made by the same company (GoodMorning.com). The new hybrid versions of each combine layers of foam with springs. The original versions are all-foam mattresses. The Juno line is now available as Juno Foam, Juno Hybrid, or Juno RV. Each version is available with the Cool+ cover as an upgrade.

Juno Hybrid Mattress Specs & Construction

Like the Douglas Hybrid, this mattress uses individually wrapped pocket coils rather than a traditional continuous-coil system. Because the coils can respond independently, pocketed coil construction can help with both motion isolation and contouring.

Juno Hybrid Mattress Layers and Construction

The layer-by-layer breakdown:

  • Knit cover (+ Cool+ upgrade option)
  • 2" cooling gel foam
  • 1" transition foam
  • 3 zones of 6" pocketed coils + reinforced edges
  • 1" base foam
  • Total height: 10"

Regular Cover vs. Cool+ Cover: What's the Difference?

You can order the Juno mattress with the Cool+ cover upgrade. This cover is infused with cooling fibres that feel cool to the touch and help regulate body temperature for better rest.

Looking at the two mattresses next to each other, you can see a small difference in the way the covers look, but aesthetically, they're pretty similar, and at first glance, you would assume they're exactly the same. You can, however, feel the difference between the two! (Scroll down for the section about who should choose the Cool+ cover).

Our Juno Hybrid Mattress Review

After sleeping on the new Canadian hybrid mattresses, I had a conversation with my girls about their experience with them, and here's their review:

  • Comfort & Feel — Juno describes the Hybrid as medium-firm, and both girls found it comfortable for sleeping on their sides or backs.
  • Motion Isolation & Noise — Our daughters found the Juno Hybrid to be quieter than their previous traditional spring mattresses that creaked with movement
  • Edge Support — The girls said the edges hold well, but are not as sturdy at the edge as their previous traditional spring mattresses felt
  • Sleep Quality — Both girls have been waking up well-rested from day one
  • Cool+ Cover— The daughter who tested the Cool+ cover reported that it definitely feels cooler than her previous mattress! Read on for more about that.

Who Should Upgrade to the Cool+ Cover?

We tested both the regular Juno Hybrid and the Juno Hybrid Cool+ mattress, so we compared the two covers. If you sleep hot or like to curl up with lots of blankets even in the summer, then the Cool+ cover might be for you! Our daughter said she can now sleep with her weighted blanket and its fluffy cover without getting hot (which she couldn't do before), so she's quite happy with the Cool+ Cover upgrade!

For more details on the Douglas Hybrid mattress, see the Douglas post for our full review and a comparison between the Douglas Foam Mattress and the Douglas Hybrid Mattress.

Juno Hybrid Mattress Price & Value

The Juno Hybrid starts at $549 (Add $79 for the Cool+ Cover upgrade) with a 15-year warranty and a 120-night trial period.  If it isn't right for you, the company will arrange pickup and, whenever possible, they'll even donate it to a local charity! Shipping is free and mattresses ship within 1-5 business days.

If you're looking for a hybrid mattress that gives you a bit more (more height, larger coils, a washable cover, a longer sleep trial, and automatically comes with a cooling cover), then you might consider the Douglas Hybrid as an alternative & for more details, see my Douglas Hybrid Mattress Review.

Final Verdict: Is the Juno Hybrid Mattress Worth It?

Juno Hybrid Cool+ Mattress Cover

We love the quiet coils and improved edge support of the Juno Hybrid over the foam-only version. It's also a great value for the price point. Keep in mind that the trial length is shorter than the Douglas Hybrid Mattress and that the edge support is a step down from traditional innerspring mattresses (which wasn't an issue for our girls since they were still able to sit on the edge of their beds to put on socks).

Based on our experience, I think the Juno Hybrid makes particular sense for someone looking for a reasonably priced Canadian-made hybrid mattress, especially younger adults setting up their own bedroom or anyone moving from an older traditional spring mattress.. The Cool+ Cover is great for hot sleepers.
