How to get Signed Character Meet & Greet Photos at Disney Parks!

I'm all about making and documenting special memories, so I knew we'd want to take photos of the girls meeting characters at Disney World.  We thought the girls would enjoy getting the characters' autographs too, so we got them little autograph books to take on the trip. It was Ken who thought of a great way to combine the two concepts!

By the reactions we were getting from the characters and Disney photographers there, this was a new idea that they hadn't seen before!  Today I'm going to show you how to get your character meet & greet photos signed at Disney Parks!

Ken brought his tablet with him in our backpack (which has a special section for storing a tablet) and whenever we had the chance to meet a character, he would whip out his tablet to take the photo, then ask for a quick signature on the screen with his stylus, right on top of the photo we'd just taken!

Here's a photo of Rapunzel giving us her signature. She was pretty excited to see that we had a "magic mirror". :) I caught Katrina in the bottom of this photo, too. She had just finished getting Rapunzel's signature in her signature book and as you can see from her face, she's pretty thrilled about it! (You can see in the background that the photographer was so intrigued by what we were doing that he wanted to take a photo of it – and he wasn’t the only one who did that!)

How we got signed photos with Disney Characters at Disney World

Here's the photo we got of Mickey & Minnie with their signatures. I think they turned out so well and what a fun keepsake to have with their signatures right on the photo of them with our kids!

If you're going to try this, you'll want to be prepared by knowing how to take a quick photo with your tablet and then open it in a program that allows you to write with your stylus. These characters are in high demand, so there is usually a line of people just waiting to meet them and get their own photos, so it's nice if you can have things organized on your tablet, to avoid taking up a lot of extra time!

We first took the photo, then quickly opened it in a program called "SketchBook for Tablet" where they were able to sign it. We haven't seen a program yet that will let you take a picture and then edit it directly.

    1. Thanks! :) haha Well, once he figured out the "plan of attack" it really wasn't hard to do. It's so fun to have the signatures right on the photos, so we can display them WITH a photo of our girls and the character- more chance of seeing those creative signatures when we look back on memories from our trip! :)

  6. We go to Disney World almost every year. I have 5 teenagers and they all still love Disney especially my special needs son. He loves to see the characters and I always take him by myself because everyone else is riding rides etc. I try to take pictures and give Caleb his autograph book and pen. It is always crazy. This is brilliant!!
Thanks so much for the information.

  12. Smart idea ! And thanks for saying you will want to be prepared. So true. If you wait in line and fumble with these gadgets as people are impatiently waiting behind you then that's really rude. Anyways this is a great way to do it. Pinning for later. Love GREEN ARMY MAN signature. That made me laugh.

    1. Hi Robin, we didn't use an ipad when we did this, but there is an app called You Doodle that looks like it would work for the ipad. I hope that helps!
