Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set Review

A while ago, we were excited to receive the Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set to review, from CSN Stores.

I am seriously so impressed with it! It has been a while since I have seen both girls so interested in one toy, for so long! It's pretty cool- it comes with a tube to store the cookies & frosting pieces in (love that for tidy up time) and it has a knife and a cookie lifter as well as an oven mitt and cookie sheet.

Also, the cookies, cookie sheet, and frosting pieces all have velcro, so they can stick together. This means they can put the cookies together (like store bought cookie dough) and cut them with the knife, and they can set the cookies on the cookie sheet & they stay put. So fun!

They both love to play with this toy, and they play well together with it! As you can see in the pictures, they have fun serving them to visitors as well ;)

I definitely recommend this toy! So, if you're brainstorming about Christmas gifts already, check it out! :)

Ghost Hands

We did this handprint ghost idea that I saw online somewhere, but I did it from memory (it didn't look too complicated)... and it wasn't, but I totally forgot about the mouth- which would have made them look a lot more ghost-ish. ;)

But really, it was all about letting them squish their hands in paint and use them as stamps, right? They had fun adding the eyes later, and I think it's cute seeing the 2 little hand prints- one a little littler than the other. :)

Edible Princess Castle

I found a gingerbread house-like kit at a store the other day that was a cookie castle kit for Disney Princesses. We built it together as a family & the girls LOVED it! It looks great, but it tastes awful! ;) The girls don't seem to notice though!

Now I'm trying to think of a way to get rid of most of it before they consume too much of it ;) It was definitely fun, though I think next time I'll stick with gingerbread!

Owl Cupcakes

I was excited to find this Owl Cupcake idea shared at Almost Unschoolers.

It was a fun, easy Fall activity and a cute treat in one :)

Here's what you need:
- cake mix
- chocolate frosting
- oreos
- Junior Mints
- Smarties (or M&Ms if you're in the U.S.)

Here's what you do:
1. Bake & cool cupcakes
2. Frost cupcakes
3. open oreos, use frosting side for eyes
4. stick junior mints on open oreo eyes
5. break non-frosting side in half, use for eyebrows
6. use Smarties/M&Ms for beaks

& Voila! :)

Carwash!

What a great way to have fun while helping out!

Ken & the girls had a lot of fun washing the car together :)

Pumpkin Patch

One of our favourite traditions is to visit a pumpkin patch. We did so last weekend & one of my goals was to get a cute picture of my two girls together there. I didn't think it would be too difficult... psh!! It SURE WAS!! I should really do a whole post showing you the photos that didn't work out so well- it was pretty amusing to look through them. ;)

(: In the end, this was the winner:

I hope you're all having fun with this Fall season! We've been doing some Fall & Hallowe'en activities- hopefully I'll have some of them up on the blog soon! And I haven't forgotten about that giveaway- it's coming ;)

Halloweenie Dress Up Paper Doll (Boy, Girl, & Dog!)

I found this Printable last Hallowe'en but didn't print it until the end of January this year ;) Talia still had a lot of fun dressing them up! I saved this post for October so that it would be more applicable ;)

Check out Babalisme for the downloads! We just printed them, I cut them out, laminated them, then cut them out again. We didn't use the tabs.

www.livingcurto.com also has a "Doggie Dress-Up" printable here!

If you've seen any other cute dress-up dolls for Hallowe'en, please let me know in the comments, we'd love to check them out!

Salt Painting

We got the idea for Salt Painting from "A Bit of This & A Bit of That". It's really easy & fun!

What You Need:

- Food Colouring (we tried the liquid kind and the gel kind, mixed with water- we liked it the best, because it spread better on the salt)
- Salt
- Glue (we used wet white glue)
- Paper

What You Do:

1. Make a design on the paper with glue (Talia could do it herself, but after a while she wanted to direct me because she had trouble squeezing the bottle for long)
2. Sprinkle salt onto the glue (we did this over a cookie tray, to prevent salt mess everywhere)
3. wet your brush & dab it on the salt lines- watch the colour spread.
4. Repeat! ;)

You can do this for any occasion, or just for fun. We did a fall one, and several random ones- the fun went on for quite a while! :)

New Car!

Today we're heading out to get this:

A few days before our trip, our car died. We surprised ourselves and decided to buy the above car on the night before we flew out on our vacation. Today's the day we get to pick it up & we're excited! :)

Now, I'm curious- how do you keep your car nice inside, with kids? Do you have rules? What are they? We're already thinking "no drinks- except for water"... any other ideas? I don't think we can say "no food" with kids who 'need' snacks.. ;)

Reviews & Giveaways & More Fun on the way!

So, I said I'd let you know what's coming up, so here's the news:

Remember CSN Stores? That fabulous supply of everything you might ever want to buy online and more? Where you can get anything from wardrobes for your own bedroom to an armoire for your child's dolls?

Yep, it's cool. We had a giveaway last month, and coming up is a review of some of their products that would make great Christmas or birthday gifts for kids.

I've also got a review coming of a great product for labeling your kids' stuff... and with that review, I'll be hosting a giveaway, so one of you gets to try it out for free!

I've also got crafts and activities to share as always, so stay tuned- more fun to come! ;)

I'm Back! Great Things To Come!

I'm back! It was a lovely vacation- our family had a great time visiting family in the U.S. We are going to miss everyone who lives out in Utah and Arizona!! Our kids had such a fun time playing with their cousins and Ken & I loved being with our siblings & siblings-in-law ;) And oh, how we love our nieces & nephews!!

A shot of the girls with their cousin on the last night-
they had so much fun together!

But we're back & we're refreshed and we're ready to attack life. It's a good thing, too, because Talia kicked off the day with a sore tummy that led to worse & I'll spare you the details!

What I haven't told you is that just a few days before leaving on our trip, our car died. And the night before we flew out on our trip, we bought a new one! So, we're excited about that.

I'm happy to see that Sharing Time pulled me through on my vacation- thanks to everyone who shared links, I can't wait to take a look at some of them! I'm also excited to see a cool little statistic at the bottom of the blog- 200 followers! That's an exciting milestone! :)

I have some posts planned for this month that are coming up soon, and I'll write more about that when I get a chance, but for now, we're taking a bit of a relaxed adjustment-day. I'll be back to blogging soon :)
