Canada's Wonderland & the Best Time to get a Season Pass for 2017!

Canada's Wonderland & the Best Time to get a Season Pass for 2017!

Last Thursday we let our girls miss school and we all went to Canada's Wonderland for the day! Visiting the park brings back two main sets of memories for me: the year that our family had season passes to the park, and the times that Ken & I went together, as teenagers! I have special memories from attending the park from both of those stages in my life and now I'm making new ones with my kids at this older age.

If you're a local, did you know that the best deal on Canada's Wonderland Season Passes is happening right now? If you plan to attend more than once, this is the way to go! I'll share season pass details at the end of this post.

You can see from our jackets and hoods that it was a bit of a chilly day, but going to the park in May or June while most people are still in school is our favourite time to go because the lines are so short! We didn't have to wait long for any of the rides we went on!

I found myself snapping this photo of the fountain in front of Wonderland Theatre for old time's sake:

It brought back memories of posing in that spot for this photo when we were teenagers. I remember it well because Ken took the photo and I wanted a photo with him in it, so I cut him out of another photo and glued him on, in my photo album. (My first "Photoshop" experience... not bad right? ;) It's crazy to think that Talia's only a few years away from going to the park on her own, with friends, to make these types of memories for herself!

For now though, it's time to make "tween" memories with her, and I get to tag along still! As soon as we got into the park, we split up (Ken & Katrina were off to ride the Bat and Talia & I went straight for Leviathan). I can't believe Katrina (my 8 year old) is up for riding the Bat (which goes upside down and backwards). The first time I went to Canada's Wonderland I was a year older than Talia and I WOULD NOT go on the Bat or any other upside down ride!

Our kids are way braver than I was! I got some of their reactions on video and shared them in my Instagram stories the day that we were there. Instagram stories are only available to view on Instagram for 24 hours so I saved it to be able to share with you here. Watch for a glimpse of a new ride for 2017 called Soaring Timbers.

Talia's reaction at the end of Leviathan is probably my favourite part! We share a love for this crazy roller coaster and it's good to find something like that to bond over! ;)

We didn't spend all of our time on thrill rides. We made sure to visit Planet Snoopy where there's a playground and tamer rides for kids, too.

I've always loved the landscaping around Planet Snoopy- it's beautiful! It's especially pretty in the Spring when there are trees with blossoms on them and petals floating around on the breeze!

Just outside of the playground is a giant chair. If you look at my post from our visit to Canada's Wonderland last year, you'll see that we take advantage of that photo opp. each time. :)  Here's this year's photo:

If you're lucky you might run into Snoopy or some of his friends while you're visiting Planet Snoopy.

I'm glad our kids aren't too old for Planet Snoopy yet because as we get older, we are starting to find ourselves a little dizzier between rides than we ever used to get, and we really appreciate the chance to relax in the "parent chairs" placed around the kids' playground and get a rest in while our kids work off some of their energy!

Speaking of resting, here's how we made use of that giant chair I mentioned earlier:

Attractions and Events at Canada's Wonderland in 2017

Another good way to sneak in a rest is to see a show! There are a bunch of special events and activities taking place at Canada's Wonderland all summer long (and into the Fall). The WoofJock Canine All Stars – Splash! is returning again this year, until the end of June (we watched last year and it was a really fun show!).

There are also several festivals and shows happening throughout the summer and Fall as well as a couple of new rides. You saw the Soaring Timbers ride in my Instagram story video earlier in this post. There's also a new water slide called the Muskoka Plunge inside of Splash Works (which opens on May 27th). You can read more about all of the fun attractions, activities and events that are happening in 2017 on the Park Website.

We finished off our day in our traditional way, by sharing a funnel cake (Ken & I have been doing this since we were 16), and we left the park with more happy memories of Canada's Wonderland to add to our collection. :)

Special Passes and Deals

Season Passes include two parks: Canada's Wonderland and Splash Works. Prices are at their lowest for season passes RIGHT NOW (they go up on May 22nd) so this is the perfect time to buy one! At their current price, if you're planning to go to the park more than once, you should definitely grab a pass!

We also noticed that you can get All Season Dining Plans, Drink Refills, and FunPix (professional park photos)! You can learn all about these options and get the best deal on a Canada's Wonderland Season Pass right now on the website!
