This year I wanted to share some family experience gift ideas with you. I've always loved memory making gift ideas but sometimes it can be challenging to come up with those! It can be especially tricky to come up with fun things to do as a family with teenagers but the ideas I'm sharing today are great gift ideas for families with teens, tweens, and kids alike!
I have an "under the tree" idea (with variations) and some stocking stuffer ideas. Stay tuned to the end of the post for some giveaways!
Christmas Experience Gifts
Each year I try to include some sort of experience Christmas gifts under the tree that the whole family can experience together. This year I'm excited to give the gift of an epic family Nerf battle!
Each member of the family will find their own Nerf blaster under the tree.
I had this idea a few years ago, but this year I finally made it happen! I'm excited because we have a good sized yard to go outside and play in this year!
I partnered with Hasbro on this blog post and they sent me a couple of their Nerf Elite 2.0 Flipshots Flip-16 blasters and a couple of Nerf Elite 2.0 Echo CS-10 blasters.
I sat in my room a few days ago and wrapped them in anticipation of the fun we'll have with this family bonding activity. My plan is to keep them hidden in my closet until Christmas because they're pretty large so they contribute to the surprise of a Christmas morning tree with some big & surprising gifts underneath of it!
Here's a bit about the blasters we're using & then some ideas for fun ways to use them!
Nerf Elite 2.0 Blasters
One of the best things about all 4 blasters being Nerf brand is that all the darts are interchangeable.
The Flipshots blasters have 16 front-facing barrels and 16 back-facing barrels- just when it looks like you've used up your darts, you can flip the barrels & you're ready to go again with 16 more! You can also choose whether you want to fire 1 or 2 darts at a time! The Nerf Elite 2.0 Echo CS-10 has the option to fire 1 dart or "slam-fire" 10 darts at once! It can also fire darts up to 90 feet. I can't wait to try them out and see which blaster everyone prefers.
Nerf Game Ideas
Here are some fun Nerf games you can play together with your new blasters:
- Blaster Battle
- Just a typical Nerf battle- every man for himself & you can pick up any darts that fall to the ground to reload and keep going!
- Target Practice
- Set out a target (or use things you have around the house like empty pop cans). We've done this with water guns and it's fun to use something light that you can knock over & see that it's been hit.
- Obstacle Course
- Examples: run down the hill and shoot a target under the porch, then army crawl over to the swings and shoot a target at the top of the monkey bars...
- Skill Challenges
- See who can shoot the furthest away or the closest to a target. See who can shoot their dart straight up & have it land the closes to them. Try getting the dart to ricochet off of something else.

Family Stocking Stuffers
Usually my ideas for family Christmas presents go under the tree, but this year I've got some family stocking stuffers planned too!
Clue, Guess Who?, Connect 4, and Battleship Card Games |
Each family member will be getting a card game in their stocking that we can play together as a family. Hasbro sent me these new classic card games based on traditional board games and I think they'll make for great family experience gift ideas that are small enough to be given in a stocking.
We already have their Monopoly Bid and Monopoly Deal card games and everyone has enjoyed those, so I'm looking forward to the time we can spend during our Christmas holidays, hanging out and playing these together.
