Advent Day 6 - Picture A Savior - Memory Game

If your kids are pretty young or new to learning the story of Christmas, you can make it really fun by playing a game to help remember some of the things in the story! Of course, even if you know the story well, a game of Memory is a lot of fun and gets everyone thinking about the story of Christmas.

This post is part of a series of 12 advent activities. You can find more details here.

Acrylic Block Photo Giveaway!

I absolutely love photographs and the way they can capture moments and memories.  They are so personal and everyone, no matter their interests, will love a photo of something. Because I have a particular interest in photography, I get excited when I discover new ways to print photos.  How cool are these new Acrylic Block prints from Posterjack.ca?!  I ordered one of our recent family photos to put on my desk and it makes me SO happy! :)

I'm not here today just to show mine off, though!  I want to show you how it came packaged and then I want to give one away to one of you, so don't miss the giveaway at the end of this post!

Advent Day 5 - Love & The Service Jar

The most important thing I want my children to feel and think about at Christmas time is love. We celebrate Christmas because of Jesus' love for us, and because of God's love for us. Jesus was our best example and He showed us love time and time again. Finding opportunities to serve at Christmas is an excellent way to help your family to feel love and to experience the joy of serving others.

This post is part of a series of 12 advent activities. You can find more details here.

Includes:
- A Scripture

- An Activity: Make a "service jar" with the free printable label included. You can make a goal to save money throughout the year, to put towards providing Christmas for another family in need next year! (You could also use this idea sooner than Christmas if you're able to save up enough to provide service in other ways throughout the year).

Advent Day 4 - Read!

When I pack up the Christmas decorations each year, I also pack up a bunch of Christmas books. I like to pull them out at the start of the Christmas season so that we can read them as we prepare for Christmas. That way they don't become too familiar from reading them throughout the year and it is like they are a gift themselves!

This post is part of a series of 12 advent activities. You can find more details here.

Advent Day 3 - Sing - Go Caroling!

Music has such power to communicate emotion. I love Christmas music and the joy that the familiar songs and hymns can bring.  I get so excited when the radio turns to Christmas music!  I only listen to one station during December because of it. ;)  Speaking of music, I am excited and thoroughly enjoying that my girls' piano practice has turned to Christmas music and I get to hear them learning those songs each day this month!

This post is part of a series of 12 advent activities. You can find more details here.

Includes:
- A Scripture
- A Discussion Topic
- An Activity: This one is similar to Day 1's activity.  You could go caroling just to sing, or you could deliver holiday treats tied with the "Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord" gift tag (included as a free printable).

While we're on the subject of music and singing, I want to share this video with you.  You may have seen it last year, but if you missed it, I think you'll want to see it!
