Surprising Old Friends in Our Old City

The girls' main goal while back in our old city was to surprise each of their best friends from school who didn't know we would be in town.  The surprise went really well!

We drove to Talia's friend's house and surprised her at her door (which went perfectly) and then went to the bus stop for Katrina to surprise her friend. We got both of the surprises on video to remember the moment. :)

We took the girls to Dairy Queen for a treat and to catch up. They sat in their own booth and we sat at a table across from them. It was cute to watch them all enjoying their little date. While we were there, Ken & I chatted with the owner of that DQ who, it turned out, was from the city that we would be moving to.

After visiting with Ken's family for a bit, and going to our old church congregation where we got to visit a bit with some friends, we drove to my parents' city where we celebrated Ken's birthday. A friend of mine in that city dropped off a cake to welcome me & our family back to Canada, along with a little gift bag filled with little trinkets that would make our next few weeks at the cottage more fun (more details about the cottage to come soon). It was so thoughtful! She included books for me & for the girls, and several other little things that came in so handy! Best of all was the fact that she thought of us and let us know! (I will try to remember this, and find ways to do the same for others when I have the opportunity)

Ken headed back to our new city without us for his first week of work and the girls & I stayed to visit with my family a few days longer. It was so good to get together with my sister and her kids again!

Ken came back the following weekend and we spent some more time with his family, celebrating birthdays, watching General Conference, and just enjoying time together. When it snowed that weekend, we started thinking about driving back to Texas. ;)

After that weekend, we all got in the car and drove to the cottage where we would live for several weeks while we looked for a new place to live.
