Visiting Family in Texas

One of the stops we planned on our moving road trip was in Texas. Ken's cousin (who was his Best Man at our wedding) lives there with his wife, 2 daughters the same ages as ours, and a son. We have visited them as often as we have been able to through the years, and even met them in Florida for our first trip to Disney World. They came to visit Utah in the summer while we were there, so we saw some of them then, but we couldn't wait to spend more time with them. It was our favourite stop on our road trip!

We arrived on a Thursday (March 21st) after a long drive, and there was one thing we all wanted to do: visit Bedford Snoball! (This is a local treat place that they have frequented for years, and we have visited with them several times before). It was a highlight of our trip & we went back almost every day!

During one of our visits, we took the photo on the right after looking through photos from a previous visit, 7 years ago (crazy to see how much they've grown!)

Talia brought her hoverboard along (the thing that she bought with all of her birthday money this year) and showed everyone how to use it (it's always entertaining when people try it for the first time).

Friday we took a little shopping trip as a family, to buy some shorts for the girls (they didn't have any with them, and they really needed some). That day we also went back to Bedford Snoball for the 2nd time, and some of our group had a little hot tub party before dinner. ;)

Ken & Katrina's matching swimsuits were sent to us by RAD Swim :)

On Saturday we went back to Bedford Snoball (3rd time) and had a movie night in their in-home movie theatre- a big treat that our girls look forward to when we visit!

That was followed up by some sleepover fun :)

I'm afraid I didn't keep very good notes of what else we did, and I'm mostly going off of photos now (I can't believe 4 months have already passed!).  I'm so glad we had the opportunity to make memories together again.

On Sunday we went to church, visited and relaxed, and then Monday morning we started the long drive to Ontario from Texas.

  4. It is so cute to see the age difference in the photos! It must be so nice to visit family in another state! We have never had the chance to do that since we all live so close.

  7. The only perk of having family in another state is having a destination for a nice, long trip. We have great visits with my brother and his family.

    1. Yes, that is a perk. It's sad to be far apart most of the time though, isn't it?
