I wrote about our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson once before, when I shared a book called The Christmas Train in 2012. I'm happy to be sharing another book that has been made from a story he told from when he was a boy. This new book is called One Little Match.
If you heard the story at General Conference, you'll probably remember it! If you haven't heard it, it's the story of a young boy and his friend who decide to clear a field in order to get together with friends for a campfire. Knowing that he should not use matches without permission or adult supervision, Tommy ignores a warning feeling and takes a match to the field. All it took was one little match to set the field on fire and you can imagine where things lead from there!
This is a great story about obedience and the blessings that come from it (as well as the dangers that can come from something as small as a match!) My girls were captivated as I read them the story. I can see this becoming a treasured part of our children's library.
Talia told me she really liked the pictures to go with the story (which she remembered from conference) and I think it was pretty cool for her to hear a story about the prophet from when he was 8 years old (just like her). The beautiful illustrations are by Dan Burr.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for review purposes from Deseret Book. All opinions expressed here are my very own.
That was such a good story! I love that they're making quality literature out of these inspired stories from our leaders!
