Blueberry Cheesecake Smoothie Recipe

I have some bad habits when it comes to diet and exercise. I tend to eat a lot of junk food and not a lot of healthy food. As for exercise... well, the bad habit there is that I don't. So, at the start of this month I decided to really work on improving those things. I've been making an effort to go for walks, to try and ease myself into exercising more. I've also been trying to eat more fruits, vegetables, and healthy things (hopefully, to try and avoid eating as much junk!).

One of my favourite ways to get healthy foods in is to make smoothies. This month, I was looking for healthy ways to use cottage cheese into healthy snacks and I came across this idea to use it to make "Cheesecake Smoothies". I LOVE cheesecake, so I thought this would be a GREAT smoothie to try! I did some research into different cheesecake smoothie recipes and came up with my own version that I like.

So, today I wanted to share my favourite version of this recipe that I've come up with so far.

I love using cottage cheese in a smoothie because it helps to make it more filling and to keep you full longer, with that extra protein in there! It's also low in fat (and if you're really watching your fat intake, you could take out the cream cheese in this recipe and use all cottage cheese). You can also get Nordica Cottage Cheese in Fat Free, 1%, 2%, 4% and Lactose Free (I used 2% when I made the recipe). You can also get on-the-go containers of their cottage cheese with flavouring in it (which might make for an even faster way to incorporate flavour into smoothies!)

Okay, on with the recipe!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup Nordica Cottage Cheese
2 tablespoons cream cheese
1 banana (the more ripe it is, the sweeter your smoothie!)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup frozen blueberries (you could use any type of berry!)
Graham Cracker Crumbs (optional)

This is super easy to make.  Just measure your ingredients and dump them all into your blender.  Then blend until all bits and chunks are smoothed out! (You won't have any cottage cheese chunks or any other chunks :)

You can drink it as-is, or you could play with your presentation!

Presentation Ideas

- sprinkle crushed graham crumbs on top
- rim your glass with crushed graham crumbs
- top with fresh blueberries
- top with whipped cream

  1. Oh wow! This looks very yummy! Even though I am lactose intolerant, I still love cheesecake, especially blueberry cheesecake, and to make a smoothie out of it, that, I will have to try. I will just make sure that I drink it at home and not go elsewhere, lol!
