5 Year Old Princess Birthday Party

A couple of months ago we had a birthday party for our new 5 year old!
She wanted a princess party, so we set to work on that! :)

I LOVE a fancy party- lots of special touches and fun decorations, treats, activities, etc. However, I do not always have a ton of time to invest in preparing such a party. So, I tried to find easy ways to create a fancy party that wouldn't take a ton of time. Sometimes I have to remind myself that a 5 year old will be happy and excited by less than I sometimes want to do ;) For an invitation, we were late getting them out and there were only 3 guests so I just sent out a group facebook message!  I'm glad we kept it small & it went really well that way! 5 kids total, counting my two. We invited the girls to come dressed in a princess dress.

Princess Crowns

When the party guests arrived we started them out working on making their party hats (crowns).

I thought I would make these lace crowns for them (which would have been adorable), but I ended up opting for an easier route- letting them make their own. We used "Crown Template 3" from here.

They were quite happy working on these with just markers. They each got a plastic wand (dollar store) when they arrived as well. Ken was the official crown-sizer.

Princess Bracelets

We had some basic plastic beads and string that we used for bracelets along with a princess charm for each girl from Wholeport, but I can't find the direct link to it now so I'm not sure they're still available.  The girls strung their beads onto the string themselves and then an adult helped them to tie a knot at the end.

Princess Punch

We had pizza for lunch and Princess Punch!  (Rainbow sherbet in Sprite- super easy, remarkably delicious, and very pretty! :)  (Win-Win-Win!)

Princess Face Paint

We had my mother in law over to paint the girls' faces (which was, as usual, a big hit!) [You can see what she did for our animal birthday party and our Lalaloopsy party as well]

Princess Cupcakes

After lunch, we got out the cupcakes!  I frosted them quickly just before the princesses sprinkled them (that way the sprinkles would stick better).  I used cream cheese frosting from a can that I had added some purple food colouring to (just before the party).

Pin-the-Crown-on-the-Princess

After the cupcake fun was over, we played pin-the-crown on the princess!  I cut the crowns out using my Cricut and rolled tape on the backs of them.  I drew the princess on the poster board (using Princess Sophia as inspiration ;)

Princess Party Bags

Each girl took home a plastic wand (from the dollar store), her crown, bracelet, some stickers, a treat, and some adorable hair ties from TiedUpLooseEnds!  (more about this fun shop here- Leslie was fabulous to work with in choosing the perfect set of hair ties for the theme of this party!)

I definitely thought we succeeded in making a fun & fancy princess party for 5 year olds! :)  I'm planning Talia's birthday party, my sister's baby shower, and helping with my sister-in-law's baby shower (also planning Talia's baptism), so there are several celebrations coming up soon and I'll be sharing them with you as soon as I can!
