There is so much to learn about Walt Disney World if you haven't been there before! That's why I decided to do a post about each of Disney's parks and today we're focusing on Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom is broken up into several different areas or "lands", so I'll also share which land each of these activities is located in. I highly suggest that as you plan your trip, you get familiar with a map so you can plan your route, to avoid too much walking!
There are so many things to do in the Magic Kingdom so it's not easy to limit it to 10 things, but we took a vote and these are our Top 10!
Walt Disney World Railroad
The railroad goes from Main Street, USA to Frontierland to Fantasyland and I love it because not only is it fun for kids and has some fun things to look at, but it saves your feet some walking if you need to get from one area of the park to another!
Parade & Cinderella Castle Shows
I still remember my first impression of a Disney World parade from when I went to Disney World as a child. Disney's parades are amazing! The floats are huge and beautiful, the characters are beloved, and the music completes the whole magical experience. I put together a few clips from a parade in Magic Kingdom from our visit in 2016 here:
You can also attend shows at Cinderella's castle that are put on by different Disney characters and they are so good! Just check out the schedule for the day and plan to be in front of the castle when your show starts.
Splash Mountain (Frontierland)
The ride I remember the most from visiting Disney World when I was younger is Splash Mountain. I loved it so much! I have a fun memory of going on it over & over in the evening because the line was short (most people probably weren't interested in getting splashed in the cool evening, but we didn't care!)
I'm glad my family loves it too! I still think it's a ton of fun, and it brings back happy memories every time I ride- both from when I was a kid, and now from riding with my own kids!
Swiss Family Treehouse (Adventureland)
This is another one that I remember from my visit as a kid. It's probably not one I feel the need to visit every time I go, but I feel like it's a must-see at least once (especially if you've watched the movie)!
and Dole Whip at Aloha Isle (Adventureland)
Conveniently, Aloha Isle is right near the treehouse in Adventureland, and Dole Whip is something that you simply MUST plan for! If you're going to try any treats at all at Disney World, try this one! The photo below is of a Dole Whip float (the same delicious pineapple ice cream as a regular Dole Whip, on top of delicious pineapple juice).
Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (Adventureland)
You know the little animatronic bird on the end of Mary Poppins' umbrella? This little show will take you right back to that movie, with tropical birds that come to life, singing and swinging and celebrating. This is another one that I remembered from my visit to the park as a child. It's also a good one to strategically plan for a moment in your day when you're ready for a break from walking- this becomes important during a day at such a huge park!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Frontierland)
Disney doesn't do roller coasters JUST for the thrill of them. Every single ride is an amazing experience, a feast for the eyes and the ears! That doesn't mean you don't get fast, thrilling rides though, and this is one of them!
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Fantasyland)
This ride is on our Top 10 list for all of Disney World- not just Magic Kingdom. It's thrilling, it's so fun to look around during the ride, AND it's got a lot of fun activities you can do even while waiting in line! I mean we love getting fast passes for this popular ride, but there's actually a little bit of disappointment when you skip this line because there are so many cool things to see while you're waiting!
Peter Pan's Flight (Fantasyland)
This ride is a classic and it's a lot of fun, but I'm gonna be honest with you and say that waiting in line is quite possibly even more cool than riding the ride! There is so. much. magic. in line for Peter Pan's Flight! You walk through the nursery and watch tinkerbell move through the room, you get dusted with pixie dust, and you even interact with shadows... I cannot tell you how this is possible, but that's what makes it magical! For the ride itself, you fly (on board a pixie dust-sprinkled pirate ship) to Never Land, taking in glow-in-the-dark scenes as you float above them.
It's a Small World (Fantasyland)
If you've ever watched a T.V. show or a movie with Disney World in it, I feel like you've heard of It's a Small World. It's even more classic than Peter Pan's flight and I just feel like if you're going to Disney World then riding this ride is obligatory! While listening to the familiar "It's a Small World" music, you float along, taking in scenes of children from different countries, representing traditional clothing and dancing from many parts of the world.
Space Mountain (Tomorrowland)
The first time I went to Disney World, I chickened out & didn't go on Space Mountain. It's actually a really fun roller coaster though, and my kids are way more brave than I! You ride this one inside, in the dark, zooming past stars as if you're flying through space. It's a really good one as long as you're not super nervous about roller coasters or the dark!
Tomorrowland Speedway (Tomorrowland)
My kids LOVE the Tomorrowland Speedway! Maybe it's because they get their honorary Disney driving license & are able to drive their parents around for once. ;) This was definitely in their top 10, and a must-repeat ride from the first time we came to Disney World!
Pirates of the Caribbean (Adventureland)
This ride has been around since long before I ever went to Disney World, but since my first visit, it's been updated a few times. You'll see Captain Jack Sparrow for one thing, and since our last visit, the ride has been updated again- releasing it's newest version in March of 2018.
During this ride, you sit in a boat and view animatronic scenes of pirates all around you. Although many rides at the park are based on movies, with Pirates of the Caribbean the ride came before the movies!
Jungle Cruise (Adventureland)
By now you may have noticed that I've gone over the promised 10 favorite attractions, but I've got to include this one more! The Jungle Cruise. I didn't get on the jungle cruise this last visit because I was busy with conference sessions when my family went on it, but here's the reason my kids voted it into our Top 10(ish) list: "you get to see all these animatronic animals and all the people who drive the boats tell ridiculous jokes". You get to see animals from Asia, Africa, and South America- all in one entertaining cruise!
That's it for our Magic Kingdom Top 10!

I've been to Disney World twice and but don't remember the first time. I think my favorite park was Magic Kingdom. It's hard not to feel like a kid again no matter how old you are there.
I’ve never been to Disney yet but it’s on my bucket list! It looks like such a magical place and I love all the things they keep adding! Looks soooo amazing and fun! Thanks for sharing at least people like me can live vicariously through your gorgeous pics!

This really makes me wAnt to go back with the kids! The great thing about DISNEY is it’s for kids and adults, alike! From what I hear, it makes for a great date night, too!
We've never been to Disney World, I don't think we're quite ready for that yet. But Disneyland we frequent. Going again in October. We get there once a year :)
Do you mean because it's bigger? If that's the case, then it sounds like Disneyland would be lovely! ;) haha Less walking is a big pro for me! That's awesome that you get to go once a year! :)
Magic Kingdom is definitely magical and by far the favorite for many visitors. My girls are big fans. I love all of Disney's parks. They are so special and memorable. They bring out the kid in me.
Yes, totally! :) I think it is my favourite if I had to choose just one to go to, but some of our favourite rides and attractions are in the other parks, too!
