Snowman Snowball Toss Game

Here's a simple Snowman Snowball Toss Game that we played at Katrina's Frozen birthday party one year. I'll tell you how to play, what you need, and where to buy fake snowballs if you want to use them!

This snowball game was a definite hit with the party guests- what could be better than indoor snowball games, without the cold?

A Tween Birthday Party at Glama Gal Spa

To celebrate Talia's 12th birthday, we went to Glama Gal Tween Spa for a very special tween spa birthday party, complete with manicures, pedicures, and facials! As I mentioned in a previous post, it was wonderful to sit back and watch as the Glama Gals led the party. The fact that I didn't have to run the party meant that I had plenty of time to document it all with photos, so I can show and tell you all about it!

Our party started with spa sandals, robes (including a special pink robe for the birthday girl), and a "let's get this party started" cheer. As if the beautiful, fancy pink decor weren't enough to get them excited, this had them energized and ready for fun!

Mermaid Birthday Party Ideas!

We usually choose a theme to plan birthday parties around and for her 7th birthday, Katrina was set on a mermaid party!  She is a big fan of a movie called Barbie in a Mermaid Tale, so we started planning with an underwater theme! :)

First we set out to transform our living room to feel like we were underwater!  We twisted streamers and taped them to the wall with painter's tape to look like seaweed.  Ken found an aquarium YouTube video to play on our TV to add to the underwater feel.

Donovan's Backyard Birthday Party

Last week we went to my nephew's 4th birthday party.  It was just our family, his family, and Gummy & Poppy (the grandparents), and it was so much fun!  My sister-in-law, Betsy, had their backyard all set up with a pool complete with water and plastic balls, sun umbrellas and lawn chairs, their fun play structure, balloons and delicious snacks.  The kids had a blast and it was so much fun to watch it all!

Pretty Pink Baby Girl Shower

In March, my youngest sister became a mother! (I know, old news... I've posted photos and more photos already ;)  Before that baby came, I helped to throw a pretty pink baby shower for her :) My mom and I got together at her house and spent the day happily making pretty pink treats :)

Okay, so you have to know that my mom and I both enjoy doing things like this. We do not always have the time to do things like this, and our lives do not usually look fresh off of a Pinterest board, but we had a lot of fun trying to make this shower as pretty as it could be for my sister :)

We decorated mostly with photos and food! My mom already had framed photos of each of her children on their wedding days and her grandchildren throughout her living room, so we used those frames and switched out the photos so that it became the "Amber room" :) Below you can see a photo that I took of Amber and Russ while she was pregnant (more maternity photos of theirs here) and a couple of photos of Amber as a child and a baby (if you can find her among those toys in her crib :)

DIY Owl Party Cups

A couple of months ago we threw a baby shower for my sister in law. It was an owl theme and my (other) sister in law made these adorable owl cups. We got the idea from these moustache cups.

My mother in law has the Wild Card Circut cartridge that had the little owls on it, and we just used some vinyl that she had on hand to cut them out & stick them on the cups.

Rainbow Polka Dot Birthday Party

For Talia's 8th birthday, we threw a rainbow polka dot party :) If you follow me on Instagram, you saw a couple of previews of this party a couple of months ago- well, I'm finally getting to blogging about it!

 Here are all the details:

We found rainbow polka dot wrapping paper at the dollar store. I made the rainbow polka dot hanging decorations by cutting circles (with my Cricut) out of coloured cardstock paper and then sewing it together. (It was pretty easy to do!) We also strung some coloured balloons up (I can't remember how we did it- you could thread them with a needle through the tied part of the balloon, or you could just tape them right onto the string... which might be the way we did it because I don't remember using a needle... actually I'm pretty sure my husband hung the balloons ;) We thought about making a pinata like we have in the past, several different times & ways, but in the end we had run out of time to make one and Talia was dying to get a rainbow 8-shaped pinata that we had seen while pricing pinatas earlier, so we just splurged and bought it!

I made an invitation from PearTreeGreetings.com and decorated with some Circle party decorations that PearTreeGreetings.com sent to us. The decorations were great because we were able to use them for Talia's baptism later as well- we used them around the food.

Rainbow Polka Dot Gumball Party Favors & Free Printable

For Talia's 8th Birthday Party we went with a rainbow polka dot theme. I had seen people do gum ball party favours for rainbow parties before, so I decided to do my own version of it.

I went to the dollar store and found a bag of different coloured gum balls and bought some little bags (also at the dollar store) that happened to be the perfect width to fit 6 gum balls. I made a little bag tag to staple onto the top of the bag and got to work!

DIY Lalaloopsy Party Bags & Colouring Activity

We made very simple, homemade party bags for Talia's Lalaloopsy Birthday Party.

All you need to make these:

- paper lunch bags (find at dollar store)
- a printer with ink & paper
- scissors
- glue stick
- bonus: you can have buttons for them to glue on (if you want)

I found these cute free Lalaloopsy colouring pages and printed them for the girls to colour while they waited for all of the guests to arrive. When they finished, they cut them out and glued them to brown paper lunch bags (which would be their take home bags after the party).

This was super easy, helped take up some time while we waited for our guests to arrive, and did the job! :)
