Blackmoore - A Regency Romance

Blackmoore - A Regency Romance

I just finished reading Julianne Donaldson's Blackmoore (published by Shadow Mountain) and ever since, I've been disappointed. Not with the book- but with the fact that I can't pick up the book anymore! I've enjoyed having it to turn to when I just want to relax and escape for a little while. I didn't get "into" the book as quickly as I expected (perhaps because there were a lot of things going on in the story that were a "bummer" for the main character), but once I got into it, I was in and there was no turning back ;)

This is the story of Kate Worthington, who is struggling to become free from a meddling mother who wants control over Kate's future. Kate has a dream that she is working to make come true, despite the adversity she faces because of her mother and other characters in the book who seem bent on keeping Kate away from what she most longs for.

Here's a little from the book description: Set in northern England, Blackmoore is a Regency romance that tells the story of a young woman struggling to learn to follow her heart. With hints of Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters, Blackmoore is a page-turning tale of romance, intrigue and devotion.

You can find more about the book (including an excerpt from the book) here.

You might remember my post about Julianne Donaldson's debut novel, the highly successful Regency romance Edenbrooke. (which, by the way, is on sale for $1.99 on Amazon this month!) This was the first that I heard of the new "Proper Romance" line of books. Edenbrooke is another addition to it. You can find Julianne on facebook, too!
